Developmental Milestones and Red Flags
Developmental milestones act as checkpoints in a child’s development to determine what the average child is able to do at a particular age. The main categories of developmental milestones include the physical, mental, social, and communication skills learned at each stage in the child’s growth.
As you watch your child grow, you are constantly on guard for red flags in child development. Is my child starting to talk when he/she is supposed to? Is my child crawling at the right age? When is my child supposed to start smiling?
Please remember that children develop differently and they might reach some of their milestones earlier or later than others. But when you see your child is falling behind please seek a professional opinion. Different studies have shown that early intervention has proven to be very effective.
